Reserva Conchal will host the second event of the Costa Rican Open Water Swimming Championship.
Competitors will race across multiple age divisions and distance categories.
The championship series features 4 competitions total, with each swimmer’s top 3 finishes determining their overall ranking.
Available distances: 1,500 meters, 3,000 meters, and 5,000 meters.
Open water swimming is a thrilling sport conducted in natural water environments such as oceans and lakes, as opposed to swimming pools.
In contrast to pool based swimming, open water races demand that athletes use visual markers to navigate their course and typically feature simultaneous starts where competitors need to tactically position themselves. The discipline has experienced substantial growth in recent years and gained Olympic status in 2008, with the 10 kilometer marathon swim serving as the premier event.
